Interchange was created in 1971 to conquer hunger issues in Milwaukee's Lower East Side. Existing literally as a closet, it has grown into one of the largest in the surrounding community. Interchange helps over 500 individuals every month with a nutritious bag of staples, frozen items, bread, dairy and fresh produce. As an emergency food pantry we are committed to servicing those in need without discrimination, regardless of beliefs, and completely without gratitude. As one resource in the 53202, 53203, and 53211 ZIP codes we continue to see a stunning rise in those requesting emergency food. Interchange also offers access to the Internet. Interchange works to find pantry visitors eligibility for Food Share, tax breaks, credits and health care they may be eligible for. We also use the State of Wisconsin's 'Job Net' to assist in finding employment.
